Avnee is passionate about helping her clients to increase their understanding and management of their emotional difficulties. Her aim is to equip clients with both the practical strategies and the deeper insight about the origins of their issues in order to achieve lasting change, rather than solely short-term symptom relief. She enjoys working with individuals who have difficulties with anxiety, depression, stress management, relationships and dating, people-pleasing tendencies, and perfectionism. Avnee also has a special interest in supporting adults affected by health issues to cope with the physical and emotional impact of these conditions, particularly cancer, chronic pain, and sexual difficulties.
Avnee utilises a range of evidence-based interventions including CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches, with therapy tailored to each client’s needs and goals. She also values integrating neuroscientific research into therapy to help empower her clients with knowledge about the mind-body connection. In addition to her role at RWA, Avnee has worked with cancer and chronic pain patients and their families at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital. She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Psychology with 1st Class Honours, and is a member of the Psycho-Oncology Co-operative Research Group.
