Tanu Joshi

Clinical Psychologist

Tanu is a gentle and compassionate clinician who has worked in a range of clinical settings, having experience working with diverse cultures, socio economic classes and demographics. Tanu is a clinical psychologist from Macquarie University. She has worked in mental health for over ten years, and has experience across a range of different fields including; working with children and families, supporting rural communities and diverse cultures, drug and alcohol case management, assessment and diagnosis for children, and trauma recovery for children and adults.

Based on each child and family’s needs, Tanu delivers evidence-based treatments and utilises modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy. She is also experienced in completing behavioural and developmental assessments and diagnosis assessments, being trained in ADI-R, ADOS, cognitive and psychometric assessments and Behaviour Support Plans.

Tanu has a special interest in working with children and teenagers, and their families. Tanu can support clients with treatments and/or assessments for presentations including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder 
  • ADHD 
  • Anxiety and Depression 
  • Emotion dysregulation and anger issues 
  • Social Skills difficulties 
  • Early trauma experiences 
  • Children in foster care 
  • Life Story’s work

Tanu is aware that navigating children’s mental health and development can be incredibly complex and challenging. She likes to build collaborative relationships with each child’s care team, connecting with their treating doctors, teachers, and allied health clinicians. She recognises each child’s success is dependent of the collaborative work within their care team.

She has a special interest in working with families from different cultural backgrounds, and children in Out of Home Care. Tanu is currently working within the Out of Home Care sector and is passionate about supporting families to heal from the impact of early developmental trauma.
